crest "Asatho Ma Sadgamaya" is from Brahadaranyaka Upanishad. It means
"from every evil lead me to good". In the Upanishad sense "from evil"
all those things and actions, which dehumanize man, keeping him in ignorance and misery.
"Lead me to good", is a prayer for help to follow the path, which liberates man
from bondage and leads him or her to the final goal-God, life eternal.
